Transfiness: genuine attention for borderless transport
Five years ago Hans van Wieringen chose entrepreneurship. With Transfiness he offers borderless transport with a complete, coherent picture, supported by OpenTMS.
‘I am going to do it differently’
Five years ago Hans van Wieringen took the brave step into entrepreneurship and started Transfiness. He noticed that at the companies where he worked it was becoming harder to offer customer-focused service, and that did not suit him. As an independent operator he is free to put his time and energy into a customer however he wishes, and he can do things he once only dreamed of.
Numbers versus customer satisfaction
Hans had worked in the transport sector for many years, but he noticed that the vision within organisations kept drifting further from his own. Large companies grow even larger, gain more departments, and everyone is judged more and more on numbers. At a certain point figures become more important than customer satisfaction, and that does not suit him. That is why he chose to found Transfiness.
A complete, coherent picture
Transfiness handles a great deal of special transport and ties together the best partners to do so. What makes it unique is the way it works: always being ready for the customer, always offering a smarter solution, and a complete, coherent picture from accessibility to invoicing. The most important thing is thinking along with the customer, mapping out all the risks, and anticipating them. Transfiness prefers to offer three options, slow, normal, and fast transport, so the customer does not automatically pay top price for a shipment that is in no hurry. The company likes to use vehicles that are on their way back and would otherwise drive home empty, which saves money and avoids sending out an extra truck specially.
Borderless transport
Working independently also enabled Hans to offer customers more options. Large companies specialise within countries or products, but the offering of Transfiness is borderless: they can arrange anything in the field of transport. Sometimes that means investing a little more time to sort everything out, but Transfiness loves to help customers fully and exists thanks to one hundred percent commitment from its customers.
Making dreams come true
This allows Hans to do things he once only dreamed of. Transfiness now arranges genuinely large projects, for example in construction logistics. One customer was building a hotel in a hard-to-reach location, with a tricky schedule due to the various suppliers and very high safety requirements. Transfiness always had to be on standby, whether the project moved fast or slow. By now the company has provided logistical support for the construction of around 20 hotels.
OpenTMS from FiLogic
For several years Transfiness has been working with the OpenTMS from FiLogic. At first Hans worked with spreadsheets for almost a year, which is manageable while you are small, but at a certain point that no longer worked. He selected a number of suppliers and went looking for a suitable solution. Culture is very important to him in that respect, and FiLogic turned out to fit best. It is a ready-to-use system that Transfiness could be connected to quickly, whereas with other suppliers you have to customise a great deal, which costs money. The system simply works, and it offers the option of further customisation when needed.
